Ultimate gift for true Tracey Emin fan.
This impressive, multi-disciplinary work consisting of two limited edition photographs, a (unique) monoprint, a hand sewn hand made cloth bag and a first edition, hand signed and numbered book (limited edition of 200) has superb provenance; it was acquired from the estate of Tim Hunt (former gallerist and agent for the Andy Warhol Foundation) and collection of his widow Tama Janowitz (bestselling author of "Slaves of New York" and former Warhol confidant). Emin gifted this work to Tim Hunt. Illustrated with two photographs and a unique monoprint by Emin, and a hand sewn cloth bag with the artist's initials (each one also unique) First edition, first impression. Edition of 200. Inscribed by the artist "I wanted this to be the truth, Tracey Emin 1994" From the original edition of 200, “Exploration of the Soul” contains characteristic elements for which Emin has become famous: the appliqué stitching, small, detailed artistic work, and catharsis through self-exploration and self-expression. Containing 20 unnumbered leaves, two original color photographs, and an original monoprint, this item is an autobiographical book in the form of a poetic text, recounting significant moments in Emin’s life up until the age of thirteen. It begins with a celebration of the endless cycle of life represented by nature (the sea, the stars, the sun, the earth’s rotation) and human love-making, as an introduction to the passionate encounter in which the artist imagines her and her twin brother Paul’s conception.
