Description
Steve McCurry
This offset lithograph poster features Steve McCurry's iconic image, made famous as the cover of National Geographic's June 1985 issue. It is boldly signed by the artist in black marker. Taken in 1984 at an Afghan refugee camp in Peshawar, Pakistan, the Afghan Girl remained anonymous until 2002, when McCurry returned to search for her once again. There he found Sharbat Gula, with the same haunting eyes as 17 years earlier. The present work was hand signed.
