Hand signed, dated and inscribed geometric drawing done in black ink by legendary Minimalist/Conceptual master Sol Lewitt, accompanied by unique personal inscription on fully addressed vintage postmarked (franked) postcard - confirming date of this work. With postmark stamp dated 27 September, 1982 from Spoleto, Italy where Sol Lewitt lived. Lewitt has also handwritten a dateline of "Spoleto September 82 in ink." One of the more intricate and impressive drawings by Lewitt, s addressed to Jerry Ciancolo - a good friend of the artist. It is signed underneath. Both Jerry Ciancolo and his brother John Ciancolo are longtime friends of Sol Lewitt and his family, and well known, well-documented Lewitt collectors from Connecticut whose works have sold at major galleries and auction houses. The front of the postcard (i.e. the non address side) on which Lewitt created this drawing depicts Vincent Van Gogh's "Ears of Wheat" at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Authenticity and provenance unconditionally guaranteed. Elegantly floated with two layers of matting, spacers and white wood frame.
