For offer here is a rare, limited edition hand signed and numbered silkscreen, by American master Frank Stella. It was created in 1970 -a most desirable era - to celebrate the Centennial of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1870-1970).This work is hand signed, numbered 128/250 and dated 1970 by Frank Stella. It was published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and printed by A. Poster. It features the distinctive blind stamp of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, lower left front.

This work is fully referenced in the catalogue raisonne of Frank Stella's printed works. (The Prints of Frank Stella: A Catalogue Raisonne 1967-1982) by Richard H. Axsom. The plate is II.C. (page 171 Axsom IIC).

A bright, beautiful strong impression - a classic piece of color field/Op Art from the turn of the decade of the Seventies. According to the raisonne, the imagery in this screenprint is derived from the center section of Stella's painting Agbatana II (1968) of the Protractor Series paintings that the artist created in 1967-1970.
