Rare vintage limited edition 17 color enamel on rhodium-plated bronze plaque, designed by Frank Stella in 1969 exclusively for the Metropolitan to commemorate its Centennial Anniversary at the turn of the decade 1970 - Nixon era! The back of the plaque has the incised text "The Metropolitan Museum of Art 1870 1970." The design marks the special occasion of the 1870-1970 MET Centennial. The medal was designed in a colorful 17 color rainbow pattern symbolizing the letter "M". The verso has the following engraving: "The Metropolitan 1870 1970 Museum of Art". The bottom rim has the following Incised signature along with the copyright logo of the Metropolitan Museum of Art: "F. Stella" ©MMA". Incised signature on the side, along with the copyright logo for the Metropolitan Museum.
