Artist's Statement:

Bear cat and I found one another back in November 2010 when I was a vendor at a local arts/crafts event.  Another vendor there was selling wreaths and kissing balls and had two black and white kittens for adoption.  I had lost a cat due to heart illness that past Summer, and was dead set on not adopting another, but when I met Bear, I couldn't resist her extra toes and big beautiful eyes. That night she rode home curled up on my lap in the car and we have been inseparable ever since.  Since the pandemic, I've lost my job and have become a full-time artist and Mom.  She always knows when I'm having a rough day, and enters a room greeting me with her teradactyl-sounding meow.  She gives rough tongue kisses and soft headbutts and drapes her entire body across me (as if she doesn't weigh nearly 20lbs).  She has always brought me comfort, and she knows just when I am stressed enough that a mere rub against my leg will redirect my stress into loving scritches behind the ears.  She is like no cat I have ever known..”
