This terrific 1980 pastel drawing by Wolf Kahn depicts the Thompson House, an historic house on North Country Road in Setauket, Suffolk County, New York. It was built in 1709 and is a saltbox form dwelling. It is a rectangular, timber frame two story building with a one-story wing. It features a steeply pitched, asymmetrical gable roof with a central brick chimney. It added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. This work is hand signed, dated, titled by the artist on the recto (front) and contains the Grace Borgenicht Gallery label on verso (back). The legendary gallerist, Grace Borgenicht, was famously Wolf Kahn's dealer for many years until they parted ways in 1995. Wolf Kahn works with Borgenicht provenance are especially desirable.
