Description

Tracey Emin

Beirut, 2006

Offset Lithograph Printed in Black

16 inches x 23 inches

Limited Edition of 100

Exceedingly scarce 2006 Tracey Emin lithograph. In 2006, the artist became enamored with the city of Beirut, Lebanon and set about photographing this fascinating and complex Middle Eastern City: 'I used to watch Hawaii Five-O with my father and he'd say to me, "This is Beirut, baby. This is the future."' Around that time, Emin created this Minimalistic black and white lithograph simply entitled BEIRUT. She initially began selling the work through Emin International, but abruptly ceased sales and destroyed the first run. In apologizing to her clients for the delay in sending the print, the artist wrote in a note that accompanies this work that she was not happy with the first printing and destroyed the edition. (see photograph) This work is accompanied by a printed note to collectors by the artist stating that she had destroyed the run and apologized for the delivery delay - also a rare collectible which can be framed separately.
