Pierre Alechinsky and Walasse Ting
Sun, 1961
Stunning early color lithograph - gorgeous rich abstraction; a rare collaboration between Chinese-European-American artist Walasse Ting and European COBRA artist Pierre Alechinsky, boldly signed by both artists in colored crayon; a super coveted "Epreuve D'Artiste" (EA) - Artist's Proof. In the early 1960s the Chinese born Ting was influenced by the European COBRA artists and collaborated closely with COBRA artist Pierre Alechinsky; several years later, after emigrating to the United States, Ting became more aligned with the Abstract Expressionists and would later famously collaborate with Sam Francis. However, this 1961 European collaboration with Alechinsky shows the powerful influence of Abstract Expressionism in their work and it especially uncommon stateside.
There is a soft, but visible horizontal crease across the bottom quadrant (near the signatures) See photos. Hence the very attractive price.
