Robert Indiana has written in black ink a warm inscription, hand signed and dated April IV, 1975, on the title page of this beautiful Artist Book of Silkscreens. Very collectible when had signed -as the regular edition was not signed. It is entitled "NUMBERS" by Robert Indiana and Black Mountain poet Robert Creeley, published by Edition Domberger Stuttgart and Galerie Schmela Dusseldorf. The book, which is bound with softcover wraps with French folding flaps, was published in a stated edition of 2500 - and features Creeley's poems, bound in with ten silkscreens of Indiana's numbers series from 1 to 0. The silkscreens are often removed from the bound book and hung separately. The edition of 2500 is typically unsigned; however, exceptionally, Indiana hand signed and dedicated the present book of prints on the title page. The book of ten stunning and iconic silkscreens from 1968 is held in the original softback slipcase. It rare enough when unsigned - but with this beautiful signature and inscription by Robert Indiana it is a true collectors' item. Makes a memorable gift. The inscription reads:
For Charles
My Best
Robert Indiana
Charles is Charles Cowles the museum curator who later became a renowned art dealer.
