The image features Serbian conceptual and performance artist Marina Abramović holding and feeding a baby tiger from a bottle, captured in a portrait session for BULLETT Magazine, an art and fashion quarterly.  BULLETT Magazine shot and ran the images for "The Sin Issue", published in the Summer of 2012.

BULLETT Magazine wasan independent New York-based print and digital culture publication focused on avant-garde fashion, art, film, and music. It was Founded in the winter of 2010 by a group of young creatives  The company shifted entirely digital around 2013 before officially shutting down its operations and print archives in late 2017. 
The background details of the shoot blend Marina Abramović's complex relationship with her personal history and her distinctive approach to performance art: The editorial profile focused heavily on Abramović’s deeply complicated relationship with her strict, demanding mother, Danica. Abramović often discusses how her mother heavily monitored and controlled her life well into adulthood. In the interview accompanying the shoot, the concept of nursing and holding powerful baby predators—like this tiger cub—served as a symbolic commentary on mothering, nurturing, fear, and dominant control. 
Two days before her BULLETT photo shoot, on a national holiday in Spain, Marina Abramović writes an email from her suite at the Tryp Madrid Ambassador Hotel requesting the following items: “1 oversize white men’s button-up shirt, 1 simple large glass of water, 1 white candle, and 1 very sexy man in a tuxedo (whom I can potentially carry around).” These are, of course, perfectly reasonable requests, but there are more. Abramović would also like “2 ravens and 1 eagle and 1 baby tiger.”
The shoot took place not long after her massively successful, intense 2010 MoMA exhibition, The Artist Is Present. While her traditional performance art requires extreme physical deprivation and long hours of static endurance, this magazine shoot allowed her to lean into an over-the-top, high-fashion aesthetic while keeping her signature calm, unblinking intensity intact—even with a wild animal in her lap
