Rarely seen on the market, this metal amulet was produced in a limited edition of 1,000 by Third Drawer Down in collaboration with Louise Bourgeois to accompany the large scale exhibition of her work at the Tate. It was sold exclusively at the Tate gallery gift shop. Bourgeois was the first artist to be granted an exhibition at the Tate Modern when it opened in 2000. This edition sold out promptly. The present work bears the text ''ART IS A GUARANTY OF SANITY" (the title of her original 1999 lead and steel wall relief.) This work has a band of leather strong around a hole and can be worn as an amulet (pendant) or alternatively hung as a wall relief. It bears the artist's incised initials. It is accompanied by the original Tate envelope, bearing the artist's printed signature and stating that this work was published in a limited edition of 1000. A rare and collectible item; a real conversation piece.
