Larry Rivers Happy 20th Birthday Lincoln Center 1979, Lithograph. Hand Signed. Numbered. Dated. Unframed.
This hand signed and numbered limited edition lithograph was commissioned by the prestigious Vera List print program in NYC which invited artists to create works that would help fundraise for Lincoln Center, which many New Yorkers consider the cultural center of the city. This is Larry Rivers' clever homage to Lincoln Center - a celebration of its 20th birthday - where the enter complex is a cake with candles - a distinctive combination of Pop and figurative that characterizes the artists style. Unframed and in very good condition. An artist, musician, filmmaker and occasional actor, Larry Rivers was best known as a revolutionary - deliberately opposing the prevailing movements of the time for the thrill of challenging the status quo. In a career which spanned over 50 years, he is consistently identified as a Pop Art pioneer and one of most important artists in the figurative tradition.
