John Chamberlain - Galeon, 1979
Lithograph on wove paper
Signed, dated, titled and numbered PP 3/6
One of only six Printers Proofs. This was part of a series of proofs created by John Chamberlain in the late 1970s, inspired by his trips to the British countryside during that era and the Galeón Andalucía, a spectacular, full-scale replica of a 16th–17th century Spanish galleon that frequently visits ports across Kent and Essex as part of its European tours; works in this series are so scarce because there was no regular edition; only 10 Artists Proofs, 10 HCs and 6 PPs.
This work is held in the original vintage wood frame under plexiglass.
