Renowned American Abstract Expressionist artist James Brooks' hand signed and numbered silkscreen "Concord" was created as part of a portfolio "America: the Third Century", commissioned by Mobil Oil Corporation in which 13 artists were commissioned to create works celebrating America's bicentennial.  Other editions of this print are in the permanent collection of the Museum of American art and the US State Department's Art in Embassies Program.

This is one of the few screenprints ever made by Brooks, an important painter who achieved great success among the first generation of Abstract Expressionists. Works such as this reflect the influence of Brooks’ background as a Cubism-influenced figurative painter before turning his eye to Abstract Expressionism. In the work, splotches of red and orange are set off against pieces of black, white, and gray. Brooks was amongst the first abstract expressionists to use staining as an important technique and experimented with pigment splotches on the canvas to appear as accidents.
