Beloved Texas artist Henry Rayburn grew up on a farm in Alvarado near Dallas. He graduated from high school in Alvarado in 1963 and then went on to study architecture at the University of Texas. After two years with the Peace Corps in Colombia, he worked as an architect in San Francisco and San Antonio. But instead of staying with architecture, he followed his heart and spent the rest of his life making art, developing a loyal following in the region for his exquisite abstract collages. His work was featured in several "Blue Star" roundups, at the Koelsch gallery in Houston, at the Edith Baker Gallery, in major corporate collections and museums including the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas.
