The American flag envisioned by Mexican born artist, Emiliano Gironella Parra. This silkscreen (pencil signed and numbered from the edition of 100) is at once a homage to Jasper Johns, as the title states, as well as an overtly political commentary on United States culture as the stars in the flag are replaced with dollar signs, and the stripes are replaced with dollar bills. This 2003 work is even more resonant and interesting in the era of Trump, all the more so because Parra is Mexican.

Son of well known artists, Alberto Gironella and Carmen Parra, he is internationally recognized for his work which focuses on topics of tradition, violence and social justice in Mexico.

Housed in an elegant white wood frame with matting. Ready to hang.

Image size: 25.5 x 37.5 inches
