This work was acquired from The David C. and Sarajean Ruttenberg Collection (Chicago, IL) who were friends and collectors of the artist. It appears to be unsigned. Although other similar bird sculptures of Lanyon's featured a claw and feather at the top of the Hawk's head, there was none on this piece. (see photographs). Approx 70 pounds; sturdy bronze, beautifully sculpted. Lanyon was a highly regarded member of the National Academy.
