Bears labels from the David McKee Gallery on West 57th Street in Manhattan (McKee represented the Estate of Philip Guston for many years), and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (Annual Art Auction, 1973), Hand signed and dated verso, also artist has written his name and home address on the verso.
David Humphrey is a professor of art at Yale University. Mr. Humphrey received a BFA from Maryland Institute, College of Art in 1977 and a MA from New York University in 1980. He has shown nationally and internationally and has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Rome Prize among other awards. An anthology of his art writing, Blind Handshake, was published by Periscope Publishing in 2010. Mr. Humphrey is is represented by the Fredericks Freiser Gallery, New York, and was appointed critic in painting/printmaking at the Yale in 2007.
