Artist's Statement:

"This is Vallie, the most spirited and loving dog I ever met. The way she just sits next to me, in comfort, quietly being there in , so seemingly in harmony with every moment. With this painting I wanted to capture her spirit and loyalty; the way she is able to transform every moment into a potentially happy one. Every morning she wakes me up wagging her tail smiling -  a lesson that happiness can be a choice. I rescued her from the Acc in Brooklyn 8 years ago and am so grateful that I did. During the pandemic she has brightened my day many times and she has definitely taught me the value of a good long walk.
