You can also find us on Artsy, Artnet, Artspace and 1stDibs - but our small, family owned business has been selling fine art, rare books, coveted exhibition ephemera and conversation pieces online before all of them! For the privacy of our clients and for ease in viewing, we typically remove works from this website after they have sold out - and we do not publish or share sold prices.
Christopher Wool - RARE Collectors' item: Discontinued Dallas Museum of Art Poster (Limited Edition), 2000
CONTACT GALLERY FOR PRICE
Description
This rare offset lithograph poster was published in a limited edition by the Dallas Museum of Art before it was permanently discontinued.
This is the first and only edition that was printed, and the existing prints are extremely desirable collectors items. The work is based on a 1990 untitled work by Wool that is in the Dallas Museum of Art's permanent collection.
The text on the poster is taken from Russian writer and philosopher Vasili Rozanov’s definition of Nihilism. It reads: "The show is over, the audience get up to leave their seats, time to collect their coats and go home, they turn around, no more coats, no more home." Wool drew upon this quote in multiple compositions.
It is in excellent condition and has never been framed. This work ships rolled in a tube.
