Thelma Appel is a beloved landscape painter who has been working and teaching for more than five decades. (She co-founded the Bennington College Summer Painting Workshop and also taught at Parsons.) Now over 80 years old, her work is being re-discovered by a new generation of collectors and curators. Most recently, she was the subject of a 50 year museum retrospective at the Brattleboro Museum in Vermont entitled "Thelma Appel: Observed/Abstract" and her work was recently featured in an exhibition at the Mattatuck Museum in Connecticut.
