The present work is the product of the artist's 1998 collaboration with the Rutgers Center to benefit the College Arts Association, of which he was a longtime benefactor, board member, and creator of several professional development committees. It is a culmination of Gilliam as a color field painter and an abstract expressionist with its sophisticated palette and its composition. The varying layers and colors tell a story that is an undeniable trademark of the artist.
