This is a beautiful enamel and metal plaque created by Robert Indiana to celebrate his famous residence and studio "The Star of Hope". The Star of Hope Lodge is an historic building on Main Street in downtown Vinalhaven, Maine - where Robert Indiana famously purchased and would later move there permanently after leaving New York. Star of Hope became Indiana's residence and studio. The work bears Robert Indiana's printed signature and the year on the recto (front). However, unlike other editions of this work on the market which refer to the artists printed name as the signature, the present work is, exceptionally, also hand signed by Robert Indiana on the verso. The work is elegantly floated in clear plexiglass to reveal the signature on the back. (See photographs). It can be hung on a wall, or exhibited on a shelf or mantlepiece. It is exceptionally uncommon when hand signed by the artist.
