ROBERT INDIANA, COLBY ART TONDO, 1973

Robert Indiana
SOLD

Description

Robert Indiana

This extremely rare edition is pencil signed and numbered from the edigion of only 50. The print is called "Colby Art Tondo" - tondo meaning "round" (rotondo). It is a smaller editioned variation on Robert Indiana's 1973 silkscreen called "Colby Art", which was created in an edition of 100. Both of these Colby Art Prints were based on a poster that Indiana designed for an exhibition at Colby College, Waterville, Maine. In these images, Indiana place the word "ART" within a circular format for the first time.
In original 1970s aluminum metal frame. Not examined outside of frame but appears to be in very good condition.
This work is fully referenced in the catalogue raisonne of Robert Indiana's prints. (Sheehan, 81, page 52)

Signed and numbered in pencil on the front.  Bears the artist's copyright "@Robert Indiana 1973" lower right.
