Artist Paul Leibow has a fascinating biography and an interesting career in the art world. From the early work done with recording artist Bruce Springsteen for his world tour, curators from both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum have selected his work for publications and catalogued his art film in their database. His series of works entitled FeelLicks, has an essence left over from pop art within a cultural subtext. Objects utilized in the collage are representative of humanity, gender and/or sociological themes. The recognizable, yet altered graphic icons, are reconstructed references. Such figures as Felix the Cat and Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse may come to mind. There is a structure from these characters that emerge into a featured single, up-cycled, iconic image.  Paul has also been a guest artist at the prestigious Tamarind Institute of lithography where he created a series of limited edition lithographs.

 Our rescue Broccoli loves to lie on the couch where he nurtures our family to no end. His personality is infectious, no pun intended. People in our neighborhood refer to him as Sweet Broccoli." He always places his face on our lap whether two people or four he jumps into the middle of us."

Paul also created A poem about Broccoli that should be published by Fall 2020 in

"The Red Wheel barrow." It is entitled: Under the table.

Under the table

I know under the table,

itching is going on.

Our canine scratches my mind.

This reminds me when I was under there.

I hear our Pitty’s leash jingle in manic mime.

His black snout sticks up;

it surfaces and hovers on my lap.

His nostrils wiggle out aromas

that are pickled in the air.

My dog does not sniff these things;

he absorbs them. Then he senses my plate

full of salted color and anguish.

He tastes my sorrow as I his,

suffering under the rule of beasts.
