Next Wave Festival Poster (Hand signed and dated), 1983-1997

Offset lithograph (Hand signed and dated by Roy Lichtenstein)

Published by Next Wave Production for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York

Frame included

In 1983, Roy Lichtenstein was commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Music to design their publicity poster for the Next Wave Festival. The poster itself is normally unsigned; however, exceptionally, this work was hand signed by Roy and dated 1997 at his exhibition at the Nassau Museum in New York. Only a few months later, the artist died of pneumonia at the age of 73. This is probably one of the last group of posters Roy signed before his passing.
The work is held in the original vintage frame, under plexiglass
