Jules Olitski
Elegy, September 11, 2001, 2002
Jules Olitski is honored in art history texts as a central figure in the development of abstract and color field painting. His works are an orchestrated visual experience, expressed in thoughtful phantom moods which shimmer and radiate. This poignant work was created by the artist in 2002 for the prestigious Vera List print program at Lincoln Center to commemorate the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York City.
