Here is an extremely rare original lithographic poster on smooth white wove paper This rare vintage offset lithograph invitation published on the occasion of an IMPORTANT exhibition of works in the mid Seventies by world famous American sculptor John Chamberlain at the legendary Leo Castelli Gallery in the mid Seventies.

In 2012, there was major retrospective exhibition of Chamberlain's work at the Guggenheim Museum. Chamberlain's estate is represented by Gagosian Gallery.

Leo Castelli was the longtime dealer of Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg, but perhaps is best known for "discovering" Jasper Johns.

Original JOHN CHAMBERLAIN vintage offset lithograph poster invitations like this 1976 Castelli exhibition lithograph are extremely rare.

In excellent condition. Measures 21.5 inches (vertical) by 17 inches (horizintal).

On white wove paper.

A 2011 New York Times obituary on John Chamberlain, paid tribute to him as an artist who “wrested Rough Magic from Scrap Metal”, declaring that he “almost singlehandedly gave automotive metal a place in the history of sculpture, smashing and twisting together a poetic fusion of Abstract Expressionism and Pop from fenders, fins, bumpers and hoods.” Chamberlain’s work is in the collections of dozens of museums, including the Guggenheim, the Museum of Modern Art and Dia:Beacon in Beacon, N.Y.; in 2011 an earlier work of his sold at auction for $4.7 million, a record for his work, which continues to achieve high watermarks in public and private sales.
