Extremely rare and highly collectible early offset lithograph invitation published in conjunction with the show "Jasper Johns, Drawings and Sculpture" held January 31 - February 18, 1961. Beyond scarce when hand signed. Fine provenance as this was acquired from the estate of artist and noted art collector Rick Collar. Design by Johns, featuring hand stenciling and image of the sculpture Painted Bronze (Ale Cans) (1960). Verso features additional stenciling of Leo Castelli's address. Very few of these mailers from one of Johns' very early Castelli shows are extant (before the Jewish Museum exhibition with Castelli's friend Alan Solomon that catapulted Johns to international superstardom.) True collectors item. Johns himself design this poster. This very early invitation - 1961 - is especially valuable and collectible when hand signed as is the present work.
