Pencil signed and numbered from the limited edition of 100. This rare and iconic pencil signed, numbered and dated screenprint by Ellsworth Kelly was created in one of the most desirable eras in the artist's career, the early 1970s. Kelly would later reprise similar colors in his prints of the 1990s, but works like this one from the 1960s and 1970s are far more elusive and desirable. Kelly initiated a style of large, simple shapes in the 1950s, formed of hard edges and flat, unmodulated colors. Kelly's timeless aesthetic has made him one of the most important artists of the past six decades. The bright simple colors of the present work, Blue/Yellow/Red (Untitled), are indeed timeless, with a psychedelic essence that is unmistakably a product of the 1970s zeitgeist. Framed and ready to hang. De-accessioned from the High Museum of Art Collection. A bright impression.
