Description

This extraordinary set of two unique works comprising an original drawing and an important collage is special not only because of the amazing provenance (gifted by the artist to his publisher), but because these are the original collages and drawings by Ellsworth Kelly for the original jacket designs for the front and back covers of one of Kelly's most iconic and well known publications, the first edition of the catalogue raisonne of his graphic works.  The drawing and collage feature the artist's handwritten title and instructions in graphite - annotations.  This iconic work was given as a gift of gratitude to Paul Anbinder, the founder and owner of Hudson Hills Press, a renowned fine art publisher, which published many monographs of famous artists including Ellsworth Kelly, Hans Hofmann, Jim Dine, sculptors Manuel Neri and Isaac Witkin. In 1997, this work was exhibited at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art in Cornell University. It is an original, unique hand signed and dedicated drawing, depicting the design for the catalogue raisonne of Ellsworth Kelly's prints.  Own a one-of-a-kind piece of art history - especially desirable for both collectors of Ellsworth Kelly's unique works as well as his graphics.
