Description

This rare Eduardo Chillida offset lithograph was created on the occasion of the 1983 Chillida exhibition at the Tasende Gallery in La Jolla, California.  It is hand signed by the artist on the lower right recto (front). Unframed. Provenance is superb and authenticity is guaranteed as this poster was acquired from the Robert and Ruth Vogele Collection. Groundbreaking design entrepreneur and mentor, Robert Vogele is recognized for being a business strategist and visionary who nurtured the creative potential of generations of Chicago designers, challenging all to think about design for the greater good.  Known for founding two of Chicago’s most significant design consultancies, Robert Vogele had the uncanny ability to recognize creative talent, nurture it, and step back and watch it prosper. He is a visionary who ran his companies by providing the right platform and philosophy that enabled his teams to thrive.Avid collectors of fine art, folk art, and modern design, Robert and Ruth Vogele amassed an impressive selection of works throughout their sixty-plus years of marriage. More than patrons, the Vogeles believed in establishing personal relationships with artists to better understand the artwork and inform their collecting. Robert is known for saying that “art enriches life”.  One cannot discuss Robert without crediting Ruth, his wife and partner in collecting mid-century modern prints, sculpture, and paintings. Together, they must have been a formidable team, bearing the twin armor of drive (Robert) and charm (Ruth). Together, they befriended and nurtured artists, traveling to studios and craft centers to meet with and support creators. For some 50 years the couple befriended and supported artists and the arts, donating to museums including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Extremely uncommon when hand signed with such fine provenance.
