Ed Ruscha Absolut Ruscha 1988, Offset Lithograph in colors on wove paper. Hand Signed. Dated with original tube sent to the head of the Ad Agency for the Absolut campaign
Ed RuschaThis rare vintage pencil signed limited Edition Ed Ruscha lithograph was created as part of a campaign/collaboration with Absolut Vodka where various top artists were commissioned to re-imagine the Absolut Vodka bottle in various forms. The ABSOLUT advertising campaign won many industry awards and was one of the most successful ever launched. Absolut Ruscha is one of the most iconic creations in Absolut Vodka's highly original and immensely influential advertising campaign; indeed, it is is sly and sinister in its simplicity: The artist has adapted his famous "Wolf" painting, altering it slightly as the shadow of the tilted Absolut bottle. The provenance of the present print is really wonderful as it is accompanied by the original mailing tube shipped directly from the publisher Absolute Americana Art Gallery, St. Augustine, Florida to William G. Tragos - the co-founder of TBWA Worldwide, the advertising agency responsible for promoting the celebrated Absolut campaign. (TBWA was later acquired by Omnicon, Inc.) This work was acquired from the estate of William Tragos. Unframed and in very good condition. Unnumbered from the limited edition of 200.
