Description

Walter Darby Bannard (American, b. 1934)

Signed lower right; numbered and titled lower left in pencil
 Edition: 100

This dazzling 1980 screenprint is by Abstract Expressionist and Color Field artist Walter Darby Bannard, a distinguished professor of art, Hans Hofmann scholar, and longtime friend and scholar of Frank Stella. In fact, at a recent talk in Manhattan, Frank Stella mentioned his friendship with Bannard - and that Bannard is one of the artists whose work he personally collects.

The work is in excellent condition and has never been framed. The paper has elegant deckled edges. It was acquired directly from the Bert Gallery in Providence, Rhode Island, which exhibited Bannard's work in the 1980s.
