Edition of 100

This 6th Artists Space Annual Edition Portfolio includes specially commissioned works by artists Tauba Auerbach, K8 Hardy,
Gianfranco Gorgoni, Sam Pulitzer and
Peter Saville. Each artist was asked to produce an edition of 100, and each portfolio is packaged in a limited edition archival box conceived by iconic English artist and designer Peter Saville, whose bold album cover work defined the aesthetic of Factory Records, and some of the most influential punk and rock groups of all time. Combining modernist symbolism with coding systems and classical reference, Saville’s graphic work pervaded all aspects of visual culture, from music and art to fashion and advertising.

Tauba Auerbach’s mesmerizing Reciprocal Helix is an intricate study in geometry and process. The complex method involves three-dimensional printing in order to create a sophisticated pattern. K8 Hardy’s contribution, Sharing, like much of her work, features the artist as model—upending the objectification of her own body through a process of intentionality. Gianfranco Gorgoni’s work depicts a performative project entitled 11 December, 1976 which was a work by André Cadere—an action in which he carried his signature ‘barre de bois rond’ along West Broadway in Tribeca, staging a kind of spontaneous ‘exhibition' of the work then documenting its reception later in associated texts. Cadere worked with Gorgoni on documenting this action, and the photograph is itself in part a manifestation of the work. The image was taken by Gorgoni, is credited as such, and he has authenticated the certificates, but it also belongs to this broader context of a collaboration with Cadere. Spirit the Key & Strike the Door by Sam Pulitzer was created using a process of photo toner on colored paper and explores various art historical reference from a critical perspective.
