For offer here is an extremely rare, original handwritten, hand-addressed and hand-signed vintage postcard (from the most influential era in Pop art -- the 1960s) -  sent by Pop art legend Robert Indiana to his friend Morris Golde. In the 1960s, Morris Golde was a well known art collector, businessman, philanthropist, and friend to artists like David Hockney, Larry Rivers and Robert Indiana, and he was also a fixture in the Fire Island gay scene of the era. In 1966, two years before this card was sent, the famous poet Frank O'Hara was staying at Mr. Golde's summer house on Fire Island, along with Virgil Thomson and another friend, J. J. Mitchell, when he was run over by a beach buggy and killed.

The text of this ard reads: "Our last day in this PARADISE. A short stop at St. Croix. Love, Bob + Ben."

The image on the back of the card is a scene from the island.

The provenance of this card is excellent as it was acquired from the private collection of Morris Golde.
