This classic Op Art 3-D hanging vinyl work comes from the 1966 New York International Portfolio, published by Tanglewood Press, featured a group of international artists on the New York scene, including Arman, Oyvind Fahlstrom, Mary Baumeister, Allen Jones and John Goodyear as well as established American artists like Motherwell, James Rosenquist, and Ad Reinhardt. (The portfolio introduction was written by renowned Metropolitan Museum curator Henry Geldzahler.)

Fine condition. This is the first time it will be removed from the original portfolio case. Superb provenance.

Here is an excerpt from the Portfolio's colophon page: "Goodyear: Double Sided Movement,  an aggressively optical print, one element of which, the vinyl grid, hangs suspended fron the ceiling some five inches from the background which is reversible and hangs, unframed, on the wall. The image flashes and changes, comes into view and swings away. The colors, black, white, and red, are basic if not primary, and the design rings slight but tantalizing changes on the diagrammatic. Both these attitudes of simplicity are characteristic of optical art."
