Product Description

This is a rare poster when unsigned, but especially rare when hand signed with such superb provenance. It depicts a painting by Gene Davis, one of the most important and collectible of the Washington Color School painters, and is personally dedicated "to Vera and Cliff".  It was acquired directly from the Estate of Vera Halbrecht Simons, so the provenance is fantastic.

Vera Habrecht Simons was a true Renaissance woman, who, after escaping the Holocaust, settled in Texas and became an artist and scientist.(In addition to having exhibited alongside Bruce Nauman, Richard Serra, Andy Warhol, Theodoros Stamos and Christo, she became a gas balloon pilot, and a widely respected aeronautical expert.)

The poster measures 24 inches (vertical) by 17.75 inches (horizontal). There is some age toning/minor foxing but that will frame out and it is otherwise in good vintage condition.

Unconditionally guaranteed authentic. Hand signed posters by Gene Davis are especially elusive, so this is a wonderful piece of art ephemera for fans of his work, and the Washington Color School and Color Field artists.

Ships rolled in a tube.

Congratulations on acquiring this rare piece!
