A very good impression.
This rare and iconic screenprint by Ellsworth Kelly was created in one of the artist's most desirable eras, the early 1970s. Kelly initiated a style of large, simple shapes in the 1950s, formed of hard edges and flat, unmodulated colors. Kelly's timeless aesthetic has made him one of the most important artists of the past six decades. The bright simple colors of the present work, Blue/Yellow/Red (Untitled), are indeed timeless, with a psychedelic essence that is unmistakably a product of the 1970s zeitgeist.

Kelly strives to capture the bare essence of what he sees, using form and shape as subjects in and of themselves. His geometric abstractions depict mysterious, intense shapes meant to exist beyond time or personal circumstance.

Ellsworth Kelly was a multifaceted artist, highly influential to the American abstract movement. Having contributed to Pop Art, hard-edge, and above all, Minimalism, through his elegant drawings, paintings, prints and sculptures, Kelly maintains a persistent style where he explores the relationship between color, shape and form. His abstract compositions, mainly composed of vivid color schemes and flat surfaces are depictions of the artist’s real-life observations. His manifestation of shapes as subjects challenge the viewer’s concept of space, evoking a physical reaction, rather than an interpretive analysis
