Andy Warhol Vintage Plaza Hotel Card with Autograph Signature & dedication Signed, ca. 1970s, w/Provenance
This is a superb example of Andy Warhol's autograph. Warhol signed his name with a dedication "M.C." on the back of a thin card from the Plaza Hotel in New York, on Fifth Avenue and 59th Street, which Warhol often frequented to meet celebrities and attend society events like weddings, parties and bar mitzvahs.
The autograph is done boldly in black marker and it is on the back of a thin vintage card featuring all the locations of the Plaza Hotels. (see photo). This was obviously a lobby card that the autographer seeker must have grabbed when they found Warhol there - and got him to sign it. They don't make cards this thin anymore, and I believe the Plaza hotel ownership has since changed hands - so this is a true vintage item.
Warhol's signature is bold, but there is time bleeding over to the verso, which is natural for a vintage piece like this from the 1970s.
Authenticity is fully guaranteed and provenance is excellent. This came from a collection of Andy Warhol memorabilia from the 1970s and 1980s, sold at a major U.S. Auction house. We also are very familiar with Warhol's signature from selling his prints for many years -- and this one is completely authentic.
This gem of a piece of Warhol ephemera measures approx. 2 inches (vertical) by 3.5 inches (horizontal), and is in good vintage condition, as described. It has never been framed, but would look terrific when floated and framed, especially with a plexiglass back to reveal the vintage Plaza Hotel information as a real period piece!
A must have for all autograph collectors, and for true Warhol fans. Complimentary (free) shipping in the continental U.S.
